THE ROLE OF DISTANCE LEARNING IN ADVANCING ENGLISH PROFICIENCY IN HIGHER EDUCATION

The rapid development of information and communication technologies has significantly transformed higher education systems worldwide. One of the most influential changes is the expansion of distance learning, particularly in the field of foreign language education. This article examines the role of distance learning in advancing English language proficiency among university students. It analyzes the pedagogical advantages of online instruction, digital tools, and learner autonomy, as well as the challenges associated with virtual language learning environments. The study highlights how distance learning contributes to improving listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills and emphasizes its importance in modern higher education.
