Plagiarism Policy for German International Journals

At Journal of Multidisciplinary Sciences and Innovations (JMSI) and International Journal of Political Sciences and Economics (IJPSE), we are committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity. We have a strict plagiarism policy to ensure that all research published in our journals is original, transparent, and ethically sound.

1. Definition of Plagiarism

Plagiarism is the act of using someone else’s work, ideas, or intellectual property without proper acknowledgment or permission. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Copying text, data, or images from published sources without appropriate citation.
  • Paraphrasing or rewording another author’s work without proper attribution.
  • Using unpublished work, including research data, without permission or acknowledgement.
  • Self-plagiarism, which involves reusing one’s own previously published work without citation or permission.

2. Plagiarism Detection

  • Screening Process: All manuscripts submitted to JMSI and IJPSE undergo plagiarism detection using specialized software, such as Turnitin or similar tools, to identify any instances of text overlap or uncredited borrowing.
  • Ethical Standards: Authors must ensure that their work adheres to academic honesty, properly citing all sources and giving appropriate credit for ideas, data, and methodologies that are not their own.

3. Consequences of Plagiarism

If plagiarism or other forms of academic misconduct are identified at any stage of the submission process, including during the peer review process, the following actions may be taken:

  • Initial Investigation: The editorial team will investigate the alleged plagiarism, contacting the author for clarification. If necessary, the article will be sent back to the author for revision.
  • Rejection: Manuscripts that are found to contain significant plagiarism or academic misconduct will be rejected and will not proceed to the peer review stage.
  • Retraction: If plagiarism is discovered after publication, the article will be retracted from the journal, and a formal notice of retraction will be issued. The retraction notice will include a clear explanation of the reason for the retraction.
  • Ban from Future Submissions: Authors found guilty of plagiarism may be prohibited from submitting manuscripts to the journal for a specified period or indefinitely, depending on the severity of the violation.

4. Self-Plagiarism

  • Self-Plagiarism Definition: Self-plagiarism refers to the practice of reusing one’s previously published work or parts of it (e.g., text, figures, or data) in a new manuscript without appropriate citation or acknowledgment.
  • Policy on Self-Plagiarism: Manuscripts that contain substantial portions of self-plagiarized material will be considered for rejection. Authors are encouraged to cite their previous work when referring to it or reusing data in new submissions.

5. Author Responsibilities

  • Originality: Authors are required to submit only original research. All content, including text, data, images, and any other materials, must be their own or appropriately cited.
  • Proper Attribution: Authors must clearly attribute all sources of information, including direct quotes, paraphrased content, and any materials that are not their own creation.
  • Disclosure of Prior Publication: Authors must disclose if their manuscript, or any part of it, has been submitted or published elsewhere, including in any other journals or conferences.

6. Role of Reviewers

  • Reviewer Responsibilities: Peer reviewers play an important role in identifying potential instances of plagiarism. If reviewers identify plagiarism or academic misconduct, they must notify the editorial team immediately. The editorial team will then investigate the matter thoroughly.

7. Commitment to Ethical Publishing

  • Transparency and Accountability: JMSI and IJPSE adhere to the highest ethical standards, following guidelines from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and other relevant organizations. The journals are committed to ensuring transparency and integrity in the entire publishing process.
  • Education and Prevention: We encourage authors to familiarize themselves with best practices in citation and referencing to avoid accidental plagiarism. Authors are advised to use plagiarism detection tools before submission to ensure the originality of their work.

By submitting manuscripts to JMSI and IJPSE, authors agree to comply with our plagiarism policy, ensuring that the work published in our journals maintains the highest standards of academic integrity and contributes positively to the global research community.
