Abstract

The article examines the competence-based approach as a modern methodological foundation for teaching the Russian language. Special attention is paid to the development of key and subject-specific competencies that enable learners to effectively apply language knowledge in academic, professional, and communicative contexts. The study analyzes the main types of competencies—communicative, linguistic, sociocultural, and cognitive—and explores ways of developing them in the process of teaching Russian. The necessity of shifting from a traditional knowledge-oriented teaching model to an activity-based and learner-centered approach aimed at personal development is substantiated.
