Abstract

This study investigates the pragmalinguistic features of presidential congratulatory speeches in the Republic of Korea, focusing on Teachers’ Day discourse. The research analyzes how linguistic means are used to express gratitude, construct ideological meaning, and reinforce social relations.

The study integrates lexical-semantic, stylistic, and pragmatic analysis. Findings show that Korean presidential speeches are characterized by high formality, emotional expressiveness, honorific usage, and ideological framing. These speeches function not only as ceremonial texts but also as instruments of political communication and national value construction.
