This article focuses specifically on research into the effects of blended learning in English language classrooms. In this context, blended learning is defined as using online learning technology as well as face-to-face learning. The review found that blended learning was generally helpful for language learning, motivation, autonomy, and academic performance. Therefore, it also discussed challenges in implementing blended learning and suggested ways for maximizing its effectiveness. Blended learning improves English language quality when instructors properly design and implement it, results suggest.
