ECONOMIC EFFICIENCY OF ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS IN ENTERPRISES UNDER SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT CONDITIONS

The transition toward sustainable development has intensified the need for enterprises to integrate environmental responsibility into their core economic strategies. Environmental Management Systems (EMS) have emerged as an effective institutional framework enabling firms to enhance resource efficiency, reduce environmental risks, and improve long-term financial performance. This article examines the economic efficiency of EMS implementation in enterprises, emphasizing operational optimization, competitiveness, and innovation-driven growth. Drawing on international empirical evidence, the study demonstrates that EMS adoption contributes to measurable cost reductions, improved productivity, enhanced access to capital, and resilience in increasingly regulated and environmentally constrained markets. The findings confirm that EMS functions not only as a compliance tool but also as a strategic driver of sustainable economic value creation.
