THE IMPACT OF VIDEO AND AUDIO MATERIALS ON ENGLISH LISTENING COMPREHENSION
Main Article Content
Abstract
The development of listening comprehension is a critical component of acquiring English as a foreign or second language. In recent years, the integration of video and audio materials into language instruction has emerged as a prominent strategy for enhancing listening skills, providing learners with authentic, engaging, and context-rich input. This study examines the impact of video and audio resources on the listening comprehension abilities of English language learners, focusing on how multimedia materials contribute to understanding spoken language, improving vocabulary recognition, and fostering overall communicative competence. By incorporating various audiovisual tools, including films, podcasts, recorded dialogues, and interactive listening exercises, learners are exposed to natural speech patterns, diverse accents, intonation, and real-life conversational contexts that traditional textbooks alone often fail to provide. The study analyzes the advantages of these materials in creating immersive and interactive learning environments that stimulate active listening, reinforce comprehension strategies, and enhance learner motivation.
