Abstract

This article comparatively analyzes the pragmatic features of apology expressions in the Korean and Uzbek languages, and examines the use of the apology speech act in formal communication, as well as its relationship with social status, communicative distance, and cultural values. It also demonstrates the importance of apologies in maintaining social balance in Korean and Uzbek speech cultures.
