Abstract

Football is a long-duration endurance sport that lasts 90 minutes and, in some cases, up to 120 minutes, during which players cover approximately 10–12 km and perform at a high level of physical exertion. Football requires well-developed motor skills. The most important factor affecting endurance performance in football is aerobic endurance. Rapid and effective recovery following high-intensity efforts during a match, as well as delaying the onset of fatigue, are directly associated with a well-developed aerobic endurance capacity. A high level of aerobic endurance in football players indicates an advanced ability to utilize oxygen efficiently. Scientific studies have demonstrated that aerobic performance is one of the primary determinants of football performance. The most important parameters for assessing aerobic performance include maximal oxygen uptake (VO₂max), anaerobic threshold, and running economy.
