Abstract

This article discusses the role of onomastics in the linguistic system, its relationship with other branches of linguistics, and modern research directions. The study analyzes the importance of proper nouns in the implementation of the nominative and communicative functions of the language, their dynamic properties in the language system. It also examines the integration of onomastics with cognitive, sociolinguistic, cultural, and computer linguistics, new naming processes, and the prospects for the development of onomastic units in modern society. The article is aimed at highlighting the theoretical and practical aspects of onomastics and can be a useful scientific resource for students and researchers studying linguistics.
