Abstract

This article examines the role of phonetic competence in teaching foreign languages and highlights the importance of teaching phonetics to young learners for the development of accurate pronunciation. The study analyzes the psychophysiological characteristics of children, the formation of phonemic awareness, and the effectiveness of phonetic exercises based on scientific literature. Theoretical viewpoints of leading scholars support the idea that early and systematic instruction in phonetics significantly enhances learners’ communicative competence.
