Abstract

This article covers the history of Karakalpak folklore and the art of bakhshi, genre features, and their place in national culture. Karakalpak oral creativity is divided into lyrical and epic types, and the artistic worldview of the people is manifested in the example of folk dastans, termas, ritual songs, proverbs and sayings. The main attention is paid to the formation of bakhshi and dastan traditions, the creative heritage of the zhyraus and bakhshis who developed them - Jien Zhyrau, Berdakh, Ajiniyaz, Kurbanbay Tajibaev, and others. Information will also be provided on Karakalpak folk musical folklore, instrumental traditions, continuity in Karakalpak literature of the 20th century and modern times. The article highlights the role of the spiritual culture, art, and creative traditions of the Karakalpak people in preserving national identity.
