This article examines the history of the establishment and development of the city of Yangiyer based on archival documents. It discusses the granting of city status in 1957, the formation of the administrative system, and changes in industry, public utilities, as well as cultural and educational spheres. In addition, attention is paid to the control exercised over religious communities during the Soviet period, the organization of cultural events, and the meaningful use of leisure time by the population. The article provides a comparative analysis of the past and present state of Yangiyer and highlights the main stages of its development.
