Abstract

Reading comprehension is a fundamental skill in language learning, and developing effective reading strategies enhances students' ability to process texts efficiently. Skimming and scanning are two critical techniques that help learners extract key information rapidly and improve reading fluency. This paper examines the importance of skimming and scanning in reading instruction, explores various pedagogical approaches for teaching these strategies, and discusses their impact on learners’ reading proficiency. The study is based on theoretical insights, empirical research, and classroom-based practices that highlight the effectiveness of these techniques in different educational settings.
