Abstract

 This article scientifically analyzes the stages of development of the higher education system in the Republic of Uzbekistan during the years of independence, the reforms implemented, achievements and existing problems. The institutional changes implemented in the higher education system, international integration, digitalization processes, the activities of non-state and foreign higher education institutions, the increase in the level of coverage and the modernization of the personnel training system are studied. Also, such urgent problems as the quality of education, the potential of professors and teachers, the integration of science and production, corruption, and regional disparities are revealed. As a result of the research, scientific conclusions and practical proposals were developed for further improving the higher education system.
