Abstract

The relationship between determinism and free will represents one of the most enduring debates in philosophy. Determinism asserts that all events, including human actions, are governed by causal laws, while free will emphasizes human autonomy and the capacity for genuine choice. Modern philosophy has revisited this debate in light of scientific developments, particularly in neuroscience and physics. This article analyzes the philosophical debate on determinism and free will in modern philosophy, examining key positions and their implications for moral responsibility. The study argues that understanding this debate is essential for addressing contemporary ethical and social issues.
