Abstract

Courage is a core human value reflected through diverse metaphorical and cultural frameworks. This paper examines how courage is conceptualized across languages and societies, focusing on metaphor theory and cultural narratives. Findings indicate that metaphors of courage rely heavily on embodied experiences—particularly metaphors of strength, movement, and heat—while cultural representations emphasize moral duty, social identity, and spiritual worldview. The study concludes that metaphorical and cultural constructs together shape how individuals perceive, express, and evaluate acts of courage.
