Abstract

This study uses a cognitive-semiotic approach, which views literary translation as a reconstruction of meaning and impact within a new semiotic system. As an example, John Green's novel "The Fault in Our Stars" and its translations into Russian and Uzbek are analyzed.

The analysis is based on frame theory and pragmatics, and deals with elements such as metaphors, minimalist formulas, names, intertexts, and wordplay. The results show that successful translations combine techniques such as preservation, modulation, explication, and compensation in order to maintain frames and cultural connotations while preserving the artistic integrity. The study concludes that this contributes to the development of a pragmatic workflow for translators.
