LINGUISTIC RESILIENCE AND EMOTIONAL SYNTACTIC SHIFTS IN ADULT SECOND LANGUAGE ACQUISITION UNDER DIGITAL IMMERSION

This study investigates the structural and psychological dynamics of adult second language acquisition within high-density digital environments. Grounded in the theoretical intersection of psycholinguistics and digital pedagogy, this paper introduces the dual-construct framework of Linguistic Resilience and Emotional Syntactic Shifts. Using a mixed-methods design, we tracked 64 adult L2 English learners over a 16-week period of digital immersion (incorporating AI-driven dialogue simulators, virtual reality environments, and automated feedback platforms). Syntactic complexity was quantified using automated computational matrices, while emotional cognitive load and resilience indices were measured via longitudinal bi-weekly psychometric profiling. The results indicate a statistically significant correlation between high-level digital immersion and non-linear syntactic restructuring under high emotional cognitive load. While initial digital exposure triggers syntactic regression due to cognitive over-saturation, long-term exposure fosters a unique linguistic resilience, allowing learners to deploy sophisticated syntactic architectures (such as subordinate clausal nesting and non-finite adverbial modifiers) even during intense communicative anxiety. These findings challenge conventional linear SLA models and offer new insights for the engineering of adaptive, AI-mediated language curriculum designs.
