Abstract

This article analyzes the communicative, pragmatic, and cognitive-linguocultural features of modality in the Uzbek language. The study highlights the role of modality in the speech process and its significance in expressing the speaker’s attitude toward reality, information, and the listener. Furthermore, the article examines epistemic and deontic types of modality, their manifestation in communicative situations, and their relationship with human cognition and cultural values. Through illustrative examples, the study reveals the close connection of modal expressions in Uzbek with speech situations, context, communicative intentions, and national mentality. The findings contribute to a deeper understanding of the semantic, pragmatic, cognitive, and linguocultural aspects of modality.
