Abstract

The article examines the socio-cognitive mechanisms of students' foreign language communicative competence formation in a multicultural educational environment. Key theoretical approaches are analyzed, including Albert Bandura's socio-cognitive theory and Lev Vygotsky's socio-cultural theory, as well as models of intercultural communicative competence by Michael Bayram and Alvino Fantini. Special attention is paid to the role of cognitive strategies, motivation, social interaction and cultural factors in the process of learning a foreign language. It is concluded that the formation of communicative competence is an integrative process that includes cognitive, social and affective components.
