This article examines the existing methodological possibilities for developing metacognitive competence in future English language teachers. Today, the methodology of teaching English has a wide scope and includes numerous articles, books, dissertations, manuals, and textbooks. The development of English language teaching is progressing day by day not only in Uzbekistan but also in many countries around the world. The point of connection between metacognitive competence and English language teaching methodology is particularly important for future English teachers. Methods such as CLIL, TBL, and Total Physical Response have been widely used by many students and teachers in the process of teaching and learning English. In addition, the development of metacognitive competence alongside these methods enhances the process of language learning, improves the quality of education, and increases students’ intellectual potential as well as their overall level of knowledge.
