Abstract

 This article empirically investigates the personal-psychological factors contributing to the risk of recidivism among individuals under probation, specifically focusing on the interaction between locus of control, aggressiveness, and emotional intelligence. The study was conducted with the participation of individuals under the supervision of probation departments in the Jizzakh and Bukhara regions. Psychodiagnostic analyses were carried out using the methodologies of D.V. Lyusin, J. Rotter, L.G. Pochebut, and R. Cattell. The obtained results demonstrated a strong correlation between the studied psychological characteristics and the risk of recidivism. Specifically, multiple linear regression analysis proved that an external locus of control combined with weak emotional regulation exacerbates aggressive behavior (especially emotional and self-directed aggression), acting as the primary mechanism increasing the risk of reoffending. Conversely, a high level of intrapersonal emotional intelligence and an internal locus of control were identified as protective mechanisms that mitigate this risk.
