Abstract

 The present paper looks into the semantic properties of flower names in modern Uzbek literature and the ways in which their application in poetry has become a linguistic and cultural signifier operating in modern poetic discourse. It has been established that flowers mentioned in poetry written by the modern Uzbek poets work both as the signs of the cultural past and as the lively meaning areas open to the changes in the society and culture.
