This article examines the chemical composition of the TAR product formed during the pyrolysis of natural gas, the prospects for the separation and identification of aromatic hydrocarbons, in particular phenanthrene and its homologues, from its composition, and their use as raw materials in the synthesis of ion-exchange materials. Based on IR spectrum analysis, the presence of polyaromatic structures, especially phenanthrene-type hydrocarbons, was determined in the sample.
