Abstract

Task-based language teaching has attained considerable attention as a communicative and learner-centered approach in second language teaching. Most classroom practices demonstrate that TBLT is rarely implemented in isolation and is frequently integrated with other teaching methods and approaches to meet learner’s needs and styles. This article mentions theoretical and practical connections and integrations between TBLT and other approaches, including Communicative Language Teaching (CLT), Focus on form, the Lexical Approach, Project-based learning.. Taking all established theoretical perspectives and pedagogical practices into consideration, the study provides a conceptual analysis of how tasks can play a key role as an organizing principle while gaining attention to linguistic form, developing fluency, and learner cognition.
