Abstract

This work analyzes Mirzo Ulugbek’s “History of the Four Nations” from the point of view of the principles of source studies, historical content and its place in the historiography of the Middle Ages in the East. The study evaluates the work’s information about the Mongol Empire, the ethnogenesis of the Turkic-Mongol tribes, the political system and the military-administrative structure based on a scientific comparative approach. The results of the work show that “History of the Four Nations” is a relevant source for today’s historical research as a high example of the scientific thought of the Timurid era.
