This article explores the processes of word formation in Uzbek and English from a comparative and contrastive perspective. While both languages belong to different typological families — Uzbek being a Turkic language and English an Indo-European language — their word-formation mechanisms reveal interesting similarities and fundamental differences. The study highlights derivation, compounding, affixation, borrowing, abbreviation, and neologism as major processes in both languages, analyzing their productivity and role in modern communication.
