This article discusses the socio-economic and geopolitical consequences of the transfer of prisoners of war to Turkestan. It also argues that the transfer of European prisoners of war to Turkestan during the First World War was a significant event that not only directly affected the military and material-technical situation of the Russian Empire but also had long-term consequences for the geopolitics of Central Asia.
