Abstract

 Although duodenal traumatic injuries are uncommon, they can have major consequences. Morbidity and mortality can be greatly increased by incorrect injury classification, delayed diagnosis, or delayed treatment. Often, a multidisciplinary approach is required. Despite years of experience, the treatment and diagnosis of duodenal injuries remain one of the most pressing unresolved problems in emergency surgery. We believe that finding a solution to this problem is one of the primary tasks of emergency surgery. Injuries to the duodenum account for 0.93-10% of closed and open abdominal injuries [2,4,5,11,13].
