this article provides an understanding of what a scale is, what a tonal system is, the historical concepts of this scale and the importance of this scale - tonal system. Starting from the ancient modal (system based on sound series) scales, the establishment of the major-minor (major-minor) tonal system in European musical culture and its influence on musical thinking are scientifically illuminated. Attention is paid to the expansion of the concept of tonality (the tonic of the main sound) in modern music art and the issues of transposition. In the process of research, the inextricable connection of the scale-tonal system with musical thinking, artistic expression and aesthetic perception is revealed. Based on these processes, each system or expression in music develops based on the central sound, that is, the tonic.
