This article examines the life and literary development of F. Scott Fitgerald, one of the most prominent figures in twentieth-century American literature. It explores the close relationship between Fitzgerald’s personal experiences and the evolution of his artistic vision, emphasizing how his social background, education, and historical context shaped his writing. Particular attention is given to Fitzgerald’s progression from youthful idealism to mature disillusionment, a transformation reflected in his major works. The study analyzes key stages of his literary career, including his early success, his role as a spokesman of the Jazz Age, and his later period marked by personal and professional decline. By tracing these phases, the article highlights Fitzgerald’s enduring contribution to American literature and his critical engagement with themes such as the American Dream, social class, ambition, and moral decay.
