Abstract
The article is devoted to analyzing the influence of European Romanticism on the formation of the Russian Romantic tradition in the 19th century. It examines how the ideas, motifs, and artistic forms characteristic of European authors, particularly the English poet Lord Byron, were assimilated and reinterpreted by Russian writers, notably A. S. Pushkin. Despite borrowing European artistic principles, Russian Romanticism acquired unique features: a special focus on the inner world of the hero, a synthesis of historical-philosophical motifs with national themes, and a specific combination of lyric and epic elements.
