SCIENTIFIC–THEORETICAL VIEWS OF ENGLISH LINGUISTS ON COMPOUND VERBS IN THE PERSIAN LANGUAGE

Abstract
This article examines the scientific and theoretical views of English and Russian linguists on compound verbs in the Persian language. Drawing on the works of prominent scholars such as Y.E.Bertels, A.K.Arends, L.N.Kiseleva, L.S.Pejsikov, Y.A.Rubinchik, and others, the study explores the grammatical, semantic, and structural characteristics of Persian compound verbs. Various models of verb formation including noun+verb, infinitive+verb, prefixed structures, and combinations with borrowed nouns – are discussed in detail. Particular attention is paid to the distinction between compound verbs and free noun–verb combinations, as well as to the debate over whether compound verbs should be classified as phraseological units. The article highlights ongoing controversies within Persian linguistics regarding the nature, classification, and productivity of compound verbs and demonstrates that this linguistic category continues to be one of the most complex and debated topics in the field.
