It is well known that Alisher Navoi paid special attention to his predecessors. In particular, in the introductory chapters of his “Khamsa,” separate sections are devoted to the praise of earlier khamsa authors. This article provides an ideological and artistic analysis of the sections in which Navoi expresses his attitude toward predecessors. During the analysis, special attention is given to explicating difficult words, rhetorical devices, and the artistic mastery of the poets.
