Abstract

This article examines the study of curses in world and Uzbek linguistics from linguistic and cultural perspectives. Curses are analyzed as emotional expressions reflecting national mentality and cultural values. In world linguistics, curses are mainly studied within sociopragmatic, psycholinguistic, and cognitive frameworks, while in Uzbek linguistics, attention is paid to their lexical-semantic structure, stylistic, and ethnolinguistic features. The paper provides a comparative analysis of curses in English, Russian, Turkish, and Uzbek languages. The findings highlight the role of curses in speech culture, their social evaluation, and their significance in linguocultural studies.
