Abstract

This article explores the protection of children's rights as a core element of modern international human rights law. It analyzes the development of child-rights standards from early international declarations to the 1989 UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, as well as Uzbekistan’s national legislation aimed at protecting minors. The study examines key categories of children's rights—survival, development, protection, and participation, and highlights global challenges such as war, violence, and exploitation. Case examples, including Malala Yousafzai’s activism and the Roper v. Simmons (2005) ruling, illustrate real-world issues and legal progress. The article concludes that ensuring children’s rights is essential for shaping a stable society, and that states and society must continue strengthening legal and social protection systems for every child.
