Abstract.Under the sharply continental climatic conditions of Uzbekistan, introduced, ornamental, and economically important plant species are exposed to a wide range of abiotic and anthropogenic stress factors. Among the most significant are high summer temperatures, water deficit in both soil and atmosphere, soil salinization, and increasing anthropogenic pressure associated with urbanization and human activities. These environmental constraints considerably affect plant growth, development, adaptation, and productivity.
