GENERAL FEATURES OF JACK RITCHIE’S STYLE AND ANALYSIS THROUGH THE SHORT STORY “SHATTER PROOF”

This article analyzes the general stylistic features characteristic of Jack Ritchie’s works and illustrates them through the short story “Shatter Proof.” The author’s minimalist writing style, his composition in which dialogue plays a central role, his skill in intensifying psychological conflict, and especially his use of irony are examined. The study focuses on how the intellectual duel between two characters develops, how objects serve in creating dramatic twists, and how moral boundaries are crossed. The article highlights those artistic mechanisms of Ritchie’s style that rely on conciseness, precision, and subtle irony.
