Abstract

One significant linguistic and societal feature in the English language is written forms of address. They show social hierarchy, interpersonal interactions, and degrees of formality and politeness. The structural, stylistic, and sociolinguistic aspects of written addressing in English are examined in this essay, with particular attention paid to honorifics, titles, professional forms, pronominal choices, and contemporary trends influenced by digital communication.
