FOSTERING LEARNER AUTONOMY THROUGH MODERN ENGLISH LANGUAGE TEACHING METHODOLOGIES

Abstract
In the evolving landscape of English language teaching (ELT), learner autonomy has emerged as a critical factor in promoting long-term success and motivation among language learners. This paper explores the concept of learner autonomy and how modern ELT methodologies, such as task-based learning, project-based learning, and the use of digital tools, support the development of self-directed learners. It discusses theoretical foundations, practical classroom strategies, and potential challenges faced by educators. The paper concludes with implications for teacher training and curriculum design to nurture autonomous learning in English classrooms.
